Chance Gone
I was watching as she gazed into the horizon, almost in a daydream. A smile fixed to her face, whilst the wind gently blew her hair. I was full of nerves, as tonight I was going to propose but my mouth wouldn't speak a word. My thoughts were concocting a sentence but as usual I couldn't bring myself to say the 5 simplest words. Then...
The bridge trembled. My balance was lost. I turned my sight to who was screaming my name. I tried to get to her but the shakes drifted us apart. Then the horrific happened, the bricks fell bit by bit towards . "!" I extended my arm but that wouldn't have done anything. That was the last facial expression of her which I would ever see - horror. I looked down, even though I could have ended up in the crashing water. My eyes closed as I couldn't bring myself to look as the water parted with the rocks.
"You know where we first met? Here's a picture *passes his a postcard*. It's going to be dark. That's where I'm going to read her this *passes him a piece of paper* then I will ask her ", will you marry me?" and then - hopefully she says yes - I'll slip this ring on her finger. So? What do you think?" asked.
"Wow mate...this is deep," patted on the back.
Here I stand, two weeks later, watching her body being lowered to the ground. I throw the rose into the hole as I try to comfort her best friend , it doesn't work well when tears release from my eyes.
"I'm sorry ," 's dad pats my shoulder whilst her mum looks at me with sympathy, knowing what was meant to happen.
