If Only To Be With You

Chapter 1

clutched tightly onto , stretching her feet and edging closer towards the cliff edge. Her eyes widened as she saw the height of the cliff, "Oh my God...that's high," she gulped and buried her face into 's chest. Her heart was skipping and the pace of the beat quickened. "I don't think I can do it. I'm going to die," 's voice trembled, she couldn't bear to look.
rubbed her back sympathetically, "It's alright. We have these ropes holding us."
", are you ready?" one of the professional guys asked, holding a rope. She took a deep breath and slowly walked over, taking another peek at the height. Had she known was going to take her abseiling she would have pulled a sickie or told him what to do, which would not have been pleasant.
"Okay, don't look down, look at the wall. It'll be much better, okay?" nodded to the instruction but in truth she just wanted to run far from the place. She listened carefully to the instruction whilst trying to calm herself down, "Stand on the edge and hold tightly onto the rope." She stood on the edge and slightly tilted her body, immediately she pulled herself vertical and stepped away from the edge. She starred towards , "I can't do it..."
"Yes you can . Once it's done you'll feel proud and I promise I won't make you do anything like this again," comforted.
"God, how are we still friends? You make me do all these crazy things that scare the crap out of me," worriedly laughed.
"You love having me around really," joked.
resumed her position, she could hear cheering her on. It helped but still didn't affect the fear within. Two deep breaths were taken and in her mind she cursed loudly. Slowly she descended the cliff, using the advice she was given: to look at the wall and not down. lay on the edge shouting out cheers.

I look up at the girl of my dream. Huh, that wasn't very cheesy, was it? Anyway, I like . Then, again...I don't know if like is a strong enough word. I look at her and every single time I'm fixed. She's always playing on my mind. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever pick up the nerve to ask her out. She's not hard to talk to, it's just...I don't know...hard to explain. It'll probably never work though, she's too good for me. That's for sure.

didn't realise how close to the ground she was until her heal hit the solid sand. She took a chance and looked down, sighing in relief when she had, to some extent, face her fear. "Never again," she mumbled. Suddenly she felt two arms around her waist, she screamed. The other person turned around and laughed. "! Twat, stop scaring me. I almost had a near death experience."
"Such a drama queen. I'm proud of you though," he said with a smile, giving her a congratulating hug.
"Thanks. How's your ankle?" asked as she starred at the casted right foot.
     "It's still there," chuckled.
"!" ran towards who had reached the ground. "How was it for you then? Were you scared?"
"Pfft. Please, I'm like a super human. Nothing scares me," stood there with pride and arrogance, posing like a superhero. "You did it though...I'm so proud," embraced her.
After seconds of the embrace pushed away, "Don't make me do anything like that again. I'm was literally canning it."
hobbled over with aid of a clutch, "Maccy D's then?"

At the fast food restaurant the sat near the window, in conversation. stood up from his seat and excused himself, going to buy ice cream. Silence surrounded the table. There wasn't a lot to say between the two as they had mutually met through .
"So..." tapped her fingers on the table and gave a subtle smile, whilst bobbing her head. "How long will your ankle take to heal?"
thought about what the doctor had said, "About 3 weeks now." Although he wanted to continue talking he couldn't find a suitable subject to keep the conversation flowing.
"Cool," replied. "You'll have to go abseiling. With me as an onlooker, of course," she grinned.
"If I'm going down, you're going as well," insisted.
"You have to be joking. Did you not see me soiling myself?"
     "You did it though," stated.
     "Yeah but never again."
Just as the two have been getting into a deep conversation walked towards the table with a tray. "You know what we should try next?" He asked. and glanced at . didn't really want to know his crazy idea; she knew it wasn't going to be anything relaxing. He was too much of an adrenalin junky. gleamed, "Free-falling!"
"Oh no, no, no. No way," immediately rejected the idea. "Only suicidal people do that." Her head shot up from her ice cream. She looked around for time, twisted 's wrist to see the time, "Is it really time already? I'm going to have to love you and leave you, Mum and Dad are going to kill me."
"Do you want me to drive you home?" asked.
"I'm going to be late anyway so might as well use the excuse of walking," grinned. She leaned in for a hug from and kissed him on the cheek. She hopped over to and embraced him. "Bye," she waved, flapping her fingers.
immediately turned to , "You like her don't you?"
snapped out of him daydream, "What?"
"Come on, you can tell me. I know you fancy the pants off her," snickered and took a sip of his coke.
"Do you have to put it like that? Anyway, what makes you think that? Actually, don't answer," insisted, not wanting to talk about the – somewhat delicate – subject.
     "Just go for it."

He's right. No, I'm not going to ‘just go for it' but I do like her. I'm not going to talk to about it. Best mate and all but he wouldn't let it rest if I told him. Or should I? Nah, he's the biggest joker around...besides, him and and close friends so he's probably end up ratting me out. I swear that guy loves gossiping.

As suspected, on arrival to home, was lectured about staying out late. She knew her parents were worried she just agreed, apologised and excused herself. She walked through to her room and shut the door. Then, collapsed on her bed, reliving the moments she had earlier today. Her thought were interrupted when her mobile vibrated and the sound of rock, blasted through her speaker. "Hello?" she answered not recognising the number.
"It's . Me and were just wondering whether you'd like to come to the theme park with us?" turned around to who gave him a thumb up.
"Is eating? God, he eats loud. Tell him to be quiet," laughed quietly to herself.
"I'm eating an special. Homemade burger and chips," he shouted down the phone, making noise of delight with each bite.
"Cheeky. He knows I'm on a diet..." quietly mumbled.
turned the phone away from his ear to speak to , ", she's on a diet. Stop being a prat!" He gave as disgraced, harsh look, which was softened by a smirk. He nodded his head and turned back to the phone, "You interested then?"
"Yeah. Thanks about that. I'll get him though...you watch," sniggered to herself.
"Alright, so we'll pick you up...say...about...twelve then?"
"Sounds good. See you then, then."
"See you," said before cursing . A smile approached 's face as all she could hear was the drowning sounds of bickering, until the call cancelled. Before she headed to her desk there was a knock on the door. turned around to see her mother popping her head between the door and the frame. "Hey," greeted with a smile, and with her arm she swiftly shoved the rolled pieces of paper into her bin. "So, what's up?"
"Your father and I went to the meeting. The one earlier today."
"Oh yeah, how did it go?" asked.
"Well, so well that they've agreed to expand our business," her mother bit her bottom lip.
     "That's great," smiled.
"It is...but...but there is...just one thing. We have to move to America," her mother twiddled her finger.
's mouth slightly opened in surprise, "America? All of us?"
"Yes. We're moving in two weeks."
"But...I've only just started college. Why can't we run the business from here?"
Her mother didn't want to go into detail as it'd only incur more questions, "I know, for you, this isn't an ideal time. Trust me...we tried to work around it but we need to get things going there."
Silence surrounded the room, so her mother decided to give her space.

Chapter 2

"Mum! Dad! I'm out now. I'll sprint my way back before 7, okay?" joked about her punctuality.
"I bet you a fiver that you're late!" her father said, walking down the stairs.
"Are you challenging me? Fine, I bet I will be home on time – for once," grinned and shook hands with her father. He shooed her away to get into the lounge. "Nice," muttered.
Roughly twenty-five minutes later, of walking saw standing near the shop they had agreed as a meeting point. "," prodded his should.
     "Hey," smiled.
"Where's ?" looked around, thinking that him and would have arrived together, being housemates and all.
"He's sick. Seriously...all that burger teasing has come to bite him back," laughed.
"Serves him right, sort of. Your food must not be healthy to eat then," joked.
"My food's fine. It's not my fault how eats!"
The day seemed to fly by. and split the price for everything. excused himself from any rides with reason of his ankle. However, he did dare to ride some of the most daunting roller coasters. Surprisingly he did well to persuade , she was left with a ghost-like complexion but was glad she had managed to get through the rides. only managed to play on the "pound-per-go" games, and won a huge teddy playing the basketball. helped him lug the teddy but he told her she could keep it. After all he wasn't a teddy fan anyway.
They were at the front door of 's house. Before opening the turning the key she turned around and smiled coyly, "Thank you for today. I had so much fun."
     "Me too."
"We should hang out again. Oh, and thanks for this," she balanced the teddy on her hip.
"Glad you had fun...too bad for though. Missed out," was glad that he got to spend a day with . He felt better by the fact that it wasn't awkward and none of them seem to have a bad time.
"We'll make it up to him. I was nice though. Maybe next time we'll just chill out. Anyway, thanks again," gave a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Withdrawing from the hug she flashed a smile. "See you."
     "See you," quietly spoke.
"Bye," she waved and closed the door.
"You're late," 's father said. His fingers rubbing together.
looked at her watch, "Damn. So close as well."

"How did it go, mate?" asked – sprawled over the sofa – as walked through the front door.
"Good. You any better?" He threw his keys on the coffee table and collapsed on the sofa.
"I've got food poisoning. Thank for that!" said with a sarcastic tone.
     "Heh, sorry."
"Anyway, nature calls..." Without another word he ran to the bathroom.

Hmm...should I? She might say yes, but, then she'll probably laugh at me. She did kiss me on the cheek after all, and she's never done that before?. Hmm...not just yet. Early days.

"," her mother walked through the door and drew the curtains. The sunlight sliced through the gap, causing her eyes to squint. Then her mother took a seat on the side of her bed. "I know you've only just woke up but I wanted to hand you this brochure. It's about your new school...oh, and you've got some letters as well. I hope there's good news in it."
groggily sat up on the bed. Her eyes half opened. She opened the envelope and read through the letter, "Congratulations..." She didn't finish the letter as she though about everything she would leave behind.
     "That's great," her mother beamed.
     "Yeah..."
A frown grew on both faces.

Chapter 3

", you need to just let her know. I'm sure, in fact, I know she likes you. I've even caught her writing ‘Mrs ' in English...crap...don't tell her I told you that. Anyway, I know. I'd rather she be with you than any other moron."
"Are you calling me a moron?"
"No, you know what I mean. Seriously, just go over there and ask," insisted. He didn't know about 's move because when she was with them, she forgot about the thought. She was just happy and preferred not to bring the mood down.
     "Maybe...I'll think about it," replied.

knocked on 's front door nervously, it was after college.
"Hello. , come in...I'll just get her," 's father answered and called out, "...?" he turned to , ", right?" He asked and grinned. "'s here."
slowly walked down the stairs, "Hey," she gave a lop-sided smile.

     Here it goes.

"Hey, I just came to chat," smiled, he followed her signal to come upstairs. " said he'll be here in a bit." He saw boxes scattered across 's bedroom. Confused, he sat on the end of bed. "So...how come you were in class today?"
wiped the free tears, and took the space next to , "I've dropped out," she stuttered.
     "Why?"
"B...because I'm moving to America," she cried 's shoulder.
choked but didn't want to show how sad he actually was, "That's good though. America's nice." He was glad their heads was side-to-side, he may have broken down right in front of her.
"It won't be the same," muffled. "I mean...I love college, and changing schools...I don't know. I guess...I just love life as it is."
"There's always the Internet...we'll always keep in touch."
"You and won't be there," she withdrew from the embrace and wiped away the tears. "I didn't say anything before..."
looked around the room, and caught the ‘Mrs ' doodle on 's English folder. He quickly turned his stare back to , "I wanted to give you something," he brought out a box from his jacket pocket. "This..."
smiled and carefully took the box. She couldn't help but laugh, "A charm bracelet." Each charm represented the rides and food from the theme park. "Thanks." She gave a peck, accidentally catching the edge of his lip and hugged him. She wishes she could say in the embrace. "I'll make sure to come back and see you guys."

     I hope so.
